Matteo Nucci

Matteo Nucci (Rome, 1970) has done classical studies and has published essays on Empedocles, Socrates and Plato. He has edited a critical publication of Plato’s Symposium (Einaudi, 2009) and has written books about the homeric world (Le lacrime degli eroi, Einaudi 2013, Achillle e Odisseo, Einaudi 2020) as well as about love in ancient times (L’abisso di eros, Ponte alle Grazie, 2018). He has also published the novels Sono comuni le cose degli amici (finalist for the Strega awards in Italy, 2010), Il toro non sbaglia mai (2011), È giusto obbedire alla notte (Candidate for the Strega awards, 2017) – all published by Ponte alle Grazie. His short stories are included in anthologies and literary magazines and his articles and travel reports are published in the magazines il venerdì and L’Espresso of la Repubblica newspaper. He has had books translated into Spanish and articles in English, German and Greek.
